- Cracks, peeling and splits are damage, not dirt — cleaning won't close them
- We don't re-dye or recolour; if the finish has worn through, that's an upholsterer's job
- Suede and nubuck aren't wet-cleaned — the process that suits smooth leather ruins the nap
Why leather costs more. It isn't a surcharge for the sake of it. Leather can't be soaked, so it's cleaned panel by panel by hand, and the conditioner that goes on afterwards is the expensive part. That step is what keeps the hide from drying out and cracking six months later.

Every job runs the same seven steps, from inspection to fabric protection. That's what separates looking clean from being clean.

Inspection
We check the fabric and how each mark got there — a fresh spill isn't treated like ground-in dirt — and flag anything that might be permanent before we start, not after you've paid.

Pre-vacuum
Dry soil comes out first with a thorough vacuum pass. Skip this and it just turns to mud the moment water goes on.

Pre-spray
A pre-spray matched to the fabric breaks down embedded dirt and oils before any water touches it — wool gets a different mix to synthetic, not the same bottle for everything.

Hand cleaning
The worst of it gets worked by hand, with a brush suited to the fabric, before the machine ever touches it.

Extraction wash
Hot water and cleaning solution go in under pressure, deep enough to reach the padding, and come straight back out through the same machine in the same pass — Kärcher and Chemspec.

Rinse
A final rinse with clean water only, until every trace of the cleaning solution is gone. Skip this and residue attracts new dirt within weeks.

Conditioning
Included, not optional. A conditioner goes back into the hide to replace the oils that cleaning removes — this is the step that stops leather cracking.

Because it can't be soaked and extracted the way fabric can. It's cleaned panel by panel by hand, and then conditioned — and the conditioner is the expensive part. The 15% covers the extra hour and the product.
Cleaning alone would. That's exactly why conditioning is built into the price rather than sold as an extra: the oils that come out during cleaning go back in before we leave.
No, and be wary of anyone who says they can with a clean. Cracking is the finish breaking down, and peeling usually means a bonded-leather surface coming away from its backing. Both need re-upholstery or recolouring, which we don't do.
We don't wet-clean either. The process that works on smooth leather flattens the nap and you can't undo it. If that's what you have, we'll say so rather than take the job.
Leather is usually ready in about two hours — much faster than fabric, because far less water goes into it. The conditioner needs a little time to absorb.
Once a year for a lounge in daily use. Leather forgives neglect for longer than fabric, right up until it cracks — and then it's not fixable.
