The difficulty in cleaning upholstered furniture is due to the variety of upholstery materials with different properties, the multitude of different materials that are in close contact with each other, the fact that in many cases it is not possible to determine the type of upholstery and filling, and the presence of decorative elements and inlays.

If you correctly identify all of the above factors and know their properties and characteristics, you can choose the right method of cleaning your furniture.

Here are some basic upholstery cleaning technologies:

  • Extraction cleaning;
  • Foam cleaning;
  • Steam cleaning;

Today we will talk about the extraction cleaning method.

Extraction method technology.

Furniture upholstery is cleaned using special equipment called an extractor and professional cleaning agents. The device itself is a powerful yet compact vacuum cleaner equipped with a special nozzle. The detergent is supplied through one hose, and at the same time, the used solution is removed from the upholstery fibres through a second hose.

1. Pre-application of the detergent.

The detergent, dissolved in warm water, is sprayed under pressure onto the carpet or upholstery. The water is heated to an acceptable temperature for the type of fabric to be treated. Temperature not exceeding 40º for natural and mixed fibres, up to 65º for synthetic fibres.

2. Chemical reaction.

The detergent dissolves and ‘kicks’ all types of contamination onto surfaces.

3. Extraction (suction) of used solution.

Dirt and debris are removed entirely from the upholstery. The suction power is so strong that the fabric remains almost dry, but it is also worth bearing in mind that the time required for the furniture to dry completely may be approx. 8-10 hours at room temperature depending on the degree of soiling.

Residual stains that are difficult to remove after cleaning are treated with special chemical reagents. Oily armrests and backrests of upholstered furniture or trampled carpet surfaces are cleaned manually with brushes or a rotary disc machine.

The carpet or upholstery is then rinsed with clean water to completely remove any residual detergent and allowed to dry at room temperature for 8-10 hours.

The advantage of wet cleaning is the deep cleaning of the products, when dirt particles are chemically dissolved and ‘pulled’ from deep within the fabric. Carpets or upholstered furniture soiled by children, pets, various dyes or fragrances return to their original cleanliness and freshness.

Simply carry out this procedure 3-4 times a year – and your home will always be clean and comfortable.

The method of wet washing furniture upholstery at home is one of the most effective and popular cleaning services. Its convenience lies in the fact that bulky furniture can be cleaned very quickly on site. In addition, the result of the extractor is the absolute cleanliness and freshness of each piece of furniture.

To sum up, SevenClean laundry company only uses extractor washing technology because of its effectiveness and incomparable convenience for the customer.
